Welcome to Enys, the new Irish moiled calf. Enys (a girl) is Gaelic for ’from the Island’ and is therefore a very appropriate name!
She is a valuable addition to the Mudchute’s collection of rare breeds (Oxford Down Sheep. White Faced Woodland Sheep, Gloucester Old Spot Pigs, Tamworth Pigs) farm animals.
So far Mudchute Farm has raised over £8,400 towards their target of £50,000, and are aiming to make it up to £10,000 by the end of February – can you help support this project? How about organising a Mudchute fundraising event with your friends? All ideas are very welcome and the Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Johnstone, is offering a £50 prize to the best (implemented) fundraising idea for Mudchute Farm! For more information go online www.mudchute.org/amy or alternatively send a cheque with your donation made payable to Mudchute Association (Amy’s Appeal).
The Millwall Rugby Club is planning to raise enough money to keep the Farm open for two weeks (£147 per day!) Would your employer be able to do likewise? What a great statement that would make in your company’s Annual Report. Photos of animals and background information are available on the valuable work carried out to protect and maintain this unique ‘countryside in the City gem’ in the heart of one of London’s most deprived communities.
The snow has melted, so why not come along, meet Enys and have a wonderful winter day out to Mudchute and don’t forget – do leave us a donation in our Courtyard Milk Churn. Every penny counts…. The Mudchute Farm and Kitchen are open Tuesday – Sunday 9am – 5pm
