Corporate & Group Volunteer Days

Mudchute Park and Farm has developed dedicated volunteer days which aim to make a significant contribution towards our Corporate Partnerships. These volunteer days with our corporate friends are designed to benefit both Mudchute and the companies that participate. Whilst the activities of each volunteer day are built around the needs of our organisation and to a certain extent the objectives of our corporate partners, Mudchute aims to ensure that they are:

  • fun

  • highly motivational

  • relationship enhancing

  • most definitely calorie burning

  • encourage team building

  • not just a typical day

Mudchute recognises that volunteering is not a regular day at work and feel it's really important that all of our volunteers have a clear understanding of how they will spend their time with us. A typical daily schedule is as follows:

  • 9:00 - Arrive at the Farm, have a cup of tea, organise lunch orders, chat about the day, get boots and gloves sorted, health and safety briefing.

  • 9:30 to 12:30 - Collect tools, go to location of task or tasks.

  • Optional break 15 mins

  • 12:30 to 13:30 - Lunch.

  • 13:30 to 15:00 - Afternoon session - either continuing morning's work or moving to a new task.

  • 15:00 to 15:30 - Start to pack up, put tools and equipment away, and wash up.

  • 15:30 to 16:00 - Head home, or to the pub.

Experience & Equipment

No experience needed as volunteers will be supervised at all times. Materials & equipment are provided with along with gloves, overalls, masks and goggles. Please bring clothes you don’t mind getting mucky and wellingtons or strong sturdy boots.

Costs

Holding volunteer days inevitably has some associated costs. We ask, that at a minimum, our Corporate volunteers cover the costs of their refreshments, tools, equipment and materials used during the day plus a fee to cover Mudchute Team Supervision and a small administrative fee to cover the costs associated with planning for the day. No VAT charge as we are a charity.

A final word

All of our corporate volunteer days have been a resounding success both for Mudchute and our corporate partners. Many staff have found spending time with us so highly motivational that they come back time and time again, building long term relationships with Mudchute and our work. The final word goes to one of our volunteers:

"For me the day was a chance to discover a part of my local community. I live and work in the area but had never really heard of Mudchute Park and Farm until I came and volunteered. Volunteering for the day gave me an insight into the charity and the kind of challenges they face. I now appreciate the amount of time, care and passion that goes into running the farm and its 30 acres of open space. To understand this and even help in a small way was really rewarding."
